Preeclamsia
Hello everyone! I've been on edge the past couple of days because my blood pressure has sky rocketed to a point that really concerns me. I've always had high blood pressure, so with this pregnancy, I knew I'd end up having problems. It was controlled for awhile, but lately it's been creeping back up. The last two months it's been running 140/90's...and the doctors haven't been too concerned with that because they know my history. BUT...the last two days it's been running 165-175 over 102-112...WAY TOO HIGH!! I tried calling the doctor this morning around 7:30 only to get the answering service. I left a message to have someone call me whne they get in, and by 9:30 I still hadn't heard anything so I called back. Finally I talked to a nurse who said she'd pass the message on to the doctor. My doctor is on vacation in Hawaii, so I know they were probably pretty busy, and that it might take an hour or so to hear back from them. Two hours later, still nothing, so I called back to make sure they were still on top of it. FINALLY....4 hours later I get a phone call back and they want me to come in, but they didn't take into consideration that I live over an hour away and they would be closing when I could finally get there. Not a very happy camper at this time!!! I asked if they could get the 24 hour urnine collection jug here in town rather than driving all the way there, and I think them saying "yes" was the smartest thing I heard from them all day. (Can you tell I'm a bit irked right now??) So, they upped my meds to 3 times a day, I have to do a second 24 hour urine collection to see if I have protein spilling into my urine and they want to see me on Wednesday when my doctor gets back from her vacation. This is THURSDAY!!! What can happen from now to then?? I've read so much on Preeclamsia, and I have every symptom they mention, so it really worries me that my little girl my not be getting the blood flow and oxygen she should be getting. Of course, then there's the concern of my health. With my blood pressure being so high, I've read of kidney problems, liver problems, and seizures. Am I just suppose to wait until Wednesday to see if any of that occurs??? SORRY GIRLS.....VERY frustrated right now!!! Any suggestions of words of advice to help cool off??

Hey- have you been taking it easy? I know you just got out of school and had your shower and all- could that stress have been contributing to the high numbers the past few days? I know it's hard to not be busy here towards the end, but now that you're out of school hopefully you can really rest- I remember Matt and I getting into fights when I was about 8 months along because all I wanted to do was work on her room, and he had to MAKE me lay on the couch with my feet up. Frustrating. Also, my personal opinion is that if you are ever uncomfortable with the way your doctor is handling things, tell them straight out, and look for a second opinion if you still aren't happy. I think mother's intuition is right on most of the time, and you need to do what makes you feel comfortable and safe and to hell with what anybody else thinks about it. One reason I really like my doctor (not that she's perfect either) is that she has always said to call anytime- even if I just feel like something isn't right but I can't put my finger on it. You're in my prayers- try to take it easy and keep us posted!!
